This bibliography supplements Yoshinobu Hakutani's "Richard Wright in Japan: An Annotated Checklist of Criticism," published in Resources for American Literary Study 11 (1981): 241-56. The present list includes all of the critical books and articles of substance on Richard Wright published in Japan through 1984, including (1) all of the entries in the 1981 checklist, (2) sixty-seven newly discovered items, and (3) eleven review articles excluded from the original list. The items cited here are written in Japanese unless otherwise noted. Each item has been examined, and the Japanese titles of articles and journals have been translated into English.
