Reaction to the comments of the reference librarian reluctant to teach has been vigorous. The issue of whether a public services librarian in an academic setting should be required to participate in instructional services continues to elicit lively reaction, and has caused at least one librarian to investigate the nature and authority of the bibliographic instruction program itself.
